We're happy, free, confused, and lonely in the best way
It's miserable and magical.
Oh, yeah
Tonight's the night when we forget about the heartbreaks
It's time
It's sad that people praise taylor for her lyrics and can't appreciate things like these:
Quote:
Have you ever seen a dead man?
A dead man lying in the road
Have you ever heard his best friend?
His best friend say you'd better go
Before you get fined
Or else you'll do time
Oh its all about money, money
Money hunny
Its all about money, money
Well alright
Have you ever seen an old man?
An old man living all alone
Have you ever heard an old man?
An old man hear the way he moans?
Because he's so tired
Because he just got fired
Oh its all about money, money
Money hunny
Its all about money, money
Well alright
Lately I've been
Feelin' like the world is weighing
Down on me again
ahh ahh ahh ahh ooh
Have you ever seen a broke man
Seen a broke man begging for his life?
Have you ever heard a broke man
Heard a broke man, heard the pain & strife?
In his one line plea, in his dull edged knife
He asking for money money yeah money hunny
He asking for money money well alright
Well alright
Well alright
Well alright
Maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much,
And maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'til you tore it all up.
Running scared, I was there, I remember it all too well.
Hey, you call me up again just to break me like a promise.
So casually cruel in the name of being honest.
I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here
'Cause I remember it all, all, all... too well.
Time won't fly, it's like I'm paralyzed by it
I'd like to be my old self again, but I'm still trying to find it
After plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own
Now you mail back my things and I walk home alone
This is what we consider her best lyrics. Get in to it.
Touching him was like realizing all you ever wanted was right there in front of you
Memorizing him was as easy as knowing all the words to your old favorite song

Lana
Ooooooh, these lyrics are so dark, complex and deep....NOT. She's trying so hard to give her lyrics more depth and it sounds forced. I don't appreciate pretentious lyrics, sorry. If she writes lyrics that are naturally deep, lyrics that don't sound corny because of their desperate attemp at depth, then her lyrics would be more appreciated, I think.
You are an expert at "Sorry"
And keeping lines blurry
Never impressed by me acing your tests
All the girls that you've run dry have tired lifeless eyes
Cause you've burned them out
But I took your matches
Before fire could catch me
So don’t look now
I’m shining like fireworks
Over your sad empty town
I mean yes, it's not THAT important if someone doesn't write their own music, AS LONG as the output is good (Rihanna, Carly Rae Jepsen, BEYONCE (album) , Shania Twain make good examples)
but when someone makes better music than the rest AND they do it all by themselves, that has got to mean something and is worth being held above the rest.

I have to agree about State Of Grace, the transition in the lyrics is just amazing; I love how in the first verse it's "now all we know is touch and go" and "we are alone with our changing minds", then, after she meets him -2nd verse- ("I never saw you comiiiing") it becomes "now all we know, is dont let go" and "we are alone just you and me".
