How could it thought when several of her songs contradict it? It's supposed to be a celebration of music of all kinds of genres ("my artpop could mean anything") yet a majority of the album is EDM with little variety. I just feel like ARTPOP just kind of lacks any kind of narrative drive, if that makes sense, compared to all three of her other albums and just comes off kind of eclectic thematically.

But doesn't ART have many different interpretations? Why should it have been cohesive at all.

It does. And that is why, at the end of the day, this is just my and Badger's opinion and not Lady Gaga's. It was a common criticism on the reviews at metacritic though. I can't tell what Gaga is saying on art here other than it can be anything she wants it to be?

That's what I took from it. I mean there's a totally random trap song so I just assumed her intention was to throw as many genres as possible together.

But I guess if metacritic said so

Okay. Just wanted to make sure - it came off that way to me and I didn't want anyone being mad at me. I just really like discussing music and their themes like I do with literature.

Hearing her calling it her 'first real album', knowing it was called 'Artpop' and hearing that interview where Madeon/Zedd said they'd make these seven minute experimental tracks, I really thought the album was going to be a real progressive and boundary testing experience

The sad thing is ARTPOP is what really Gaga is. Her previous 3 albums are just label creations.
