How could it thought when several of her songs contradict it? It's supposed to be a celebration of music of all kinds of genres ("my artpop could mean anything") yet a majority of the album is EDM with little variety. MANiCURE has its pop-rockish elements and Do What U Want has a nice R&B feel. Dope is a strong ballad that has a disjointed placement in the album.
Born This Way is an album that tells others how they can get stronger and overcome their own obsticles and, in a way, a mirror of how Gaga wants to be seen. The Fame Monster shows us the consequences and burdens that fame gives - kind of a dark temptation.
I just feel like ARTPOP just kind of lacks any kind of narrative drive, if that makes sense, compared to all three of her other albums and just comes off kind of eclectic thematically.
