Whoever that author is (it better be Gillian Flynn!), I bet they don't respect Britney, or consider her the artist of the 2000s!
Britney was the most relevant and iconic female artist of the 2000-2009 period, there is really no denying this. She also sold more albums than the others, had more huge global hits and had more iconic performances, outfits, videos and life events than the rest. Like girl. Britney now is a shadow of her former self, but in 2000-2009? She was by far the biggest star on the planet. I know ATRL likes to have *Shakira voice* selective memory and forget history, but DO NOT forget the clout Ms. Spears had. Beyonce was never in the same realm of fame, relevance, attention and status until recently.
This is how we do, yeah, chilling, laid back
Straight stuntin' yeah we do it like that
This is how we do, do do do do, this is how we do

She should make a remix with Macklemore (replacing her awful spoken word bits) for maximum sells and chart positions, and release it as the fifth single after "Birthday".

Please provide an official link naming Britney these claims? *waits* I can provide several on my end. *giggles*
Yeah somewhat like that -- but I still think those are the Top 10 females.
Physical Singles were DEAD throughout the whole decade.
Madonna would always go atop that chart with like 10k in sales.
I don't think they disclosed an exact figure of how much she sold (the Billboard page doesn't exist anymore). Better still, it's just something to add to the claims that she's a contender for one of the most successful female artists WW of the 00s.
the US is KEY in attaining worldwide success. this "proportions" and "percentages" **** needs to stop because it's just proving that your faves can't sell in the US as strongly as they can outside of it if anything
People really underestimate how successful The Fame was just because she's flopping now. If you take the decline in total album sales in account, it was about as successful as Beyonce's first four albums combined
