I do think ARTPOP was a lyrical mess, but she doesn't need to hire songwriters to be honest. I disagree with many of you, the biggest problem of this album was not the loud tracks, it was the pointless and kind of child-like lyrics. But, she's a talented songwriter and I think she just needs to focus and find her muse, because she is able to write amazing songs. ARTPOP does have some awesome lyrics though. Dope alone >>>

Gaga always has these great ideas but has no idea how to execute them. A lot of her material lately comes across as rough drafts. Gaga is capable of writing good material that appeals lyrically and/or commercially. The issue with ARTPOP's lyrics is that she is failing to connect the message to a general audience. I doubt even her fans know what on Earth she's talking about. The fact remains that Gaga doesn't really sing about anything, and when she does then the song's production or vocals suffer.

The production on ARTPOP is fine, though not as groundbreaking as Gaga would like us to believe. I don't want her to surrender her songwriting but I do want her to connect with a general audience with honest lyrics. Save two or three tracks, I cannot relate to ARTPOP. A song like Applause, though she says is inspired by her fans, is clearly about her own hype. She really bought into herself and failed.
