There’s a new record for selling out the Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Katy Perry’s Aug. 20 concert essentially sold out in about six minutes on Monday, bettering the 10-minute mark set when last year’s Pink concert went on sale in March.
"People were really receptive to this show. We knew they would be,” said arena Manager Tom Lorenz. “There are a few singles and some VIP packages, which always take a while to sell, left. "
As was the case with the fast Pink sellout, Monday’s quick sale was largely the result of heavy advance sales from CitiBank cardholders and through Facebook.
“What people need to understand is that is at the behest of the artist,” Lorenz said of the pre-sale offers. “Katy particularly wanted the Facebook presale to be a strong vehicle for her fans to access tickets. It was and they did.”
The arena was able to sell tickets to all who came to the ticket office Monday morning. Online sales lasted about six minutes before nearly all the tickets were gone.
A few disgruntled would-be buyers called the arena complaining that they weren’t able to get Perry tickets and asking why all tickets weren’t held for general public sales, Lorenz said.
“It’s a whole new game out there now,” he said.
Lorenz urged those who want to receive pre-sale codes to “like” the Pinnacle Bank Arena on Facebook and sign up for the arena’s email list.
An announcement of another arena concert should come in the next week, Lorenz said.
