Its weird I'm from the south & went to a private school
But we actually had good sex ED.
Of course that was when I was in the 6th grade.
When I switched to public school for my high school years Sex Ed was pretty non existent.
Private schools can supply quality sex ed. Public schools in most southern states are not allowed to teach anything but abstinence. If you teach anything else, your funding gets cut. It's sad tbh
I used to be ignorant about Arab people/culture and allladat stuff too when I was younger. But, I took an Arabic class for 4 years and it really opened my eyes to so many misconceptions the media spreads. Sometimes it can be a subconscious ignorance though. Ala:

It also won a VMA for Best Female Video (I think? It was one of the major categories), back when MTV actually showed videos and a VMA really meant something.

We as Americans are taught to view names and stereotypes one way (as gospel truth), but ignorance isn't as tangible of a lesson. It's omnipresent despite what we've been taught and is applicable to our people and not solely the people we pass judgement on.
