Why didn't this mess occur when the av was brought up earlier this month?

Because he's not wearing a shirt?
You're taking this to the most literal extreme. Our intent was to get rid of sexually explicit avatars, not everything that could remotely be skewed as sexual.

Exactly. It's not a black-and-white X is explicit and Y is not; there is not some solid line at which we say "okay, there's a shirt off here, everything this bad or worse is totally 100% banned". There are different standards for different situations and avatars.

Borntodiethisway's avi is not in any way graphic or explicit enough to warrant removal; because of the different standards wider society places upon women regarding nudity, the blonde woman avatar is "graphic" enough to warrant removal. By the same token, due to societal standards that are entirely out of control of myself and the rest of the moderating team, ISOH's avatar has been deemed too suggestive to be appropriate for ATRL and BTDTW's has not. That is literally all the explanation and arguing I can give you.

Applying different standards to men and women is sexist. Not allowing the blonde avi is sexist. Just because society is that way, doesn't ATRL has to be. Tbh, I'm not anti-risque avi's, but I call it like I see it.

I had nothing to do with banning that avatar. Personally, I don't see the problem with it, but other mods did and I respect their decision.
Again, I'm not sure why anyone on ATRL feels such an intense need to have half-naked models in their avatars, though. There are plenty of other places on the Internet where you can indulge in that.

You applied the same standard for both the blonde avi, and BTDTW's and came to different conclusions. That was the issue.

No, it was not. They are NOT exactly the same and they have not been treated as though they are.

It is society that has defined what is explicit and what is not; I just stick by my interpretation of that. I think both should be allowed just fine and I'm all for complete equality of the sexes, but the simple reality is that one avatar is too suggestive and one really isn't. I have nothing further to say on the matter.

We're also different mods with different opinions. We all follow the same guidelines and try to be consistent with each other, but this is a subjective job. Sometimes we come to different conclusions.
Just like how you see injustice in everything we do while we think we're being pretty fair. But that's life.

Exactly. And in this case, I wasn't even the only person contributing to the discussion when the blonde girl's avatar, and I never involved my own personal viewpoint on that one. If this were a site I owned and was responsible for then hey, go for it, you know? But it's not, and I'm just doing my job the way I interpret things and that's exactly what you're doing, too.

Mess at there being a sexism war going on in here. The girl avatar did show off her butt, but I've seen SO much worse in terms of guys.

And if I'm not mistaken, that very same member sent me a friend req. the other day, which I denied.
Any way;
Can I just edit out that part or...?

I know Katie did it.
And it's how we want to express ourselves and whatever. And y'all can stop using that "other places on the internet" thing, because we're not using it to get off to, we're just expressing ourselves. I'm a straight female so I'm not indulging in my old avi sexually.

Still sexist because you're acting on sexist society's sexist definition of explicit.

If you see worse, report it. We're not just going to sit on our hands if it's a guy in the avatar - we will evaluate whether it's too suggestive and if so, the member who holds it will be asked to change it just like ISOH and MiMi were. Just ask Borntodiethisway about his last one - it was a guy, and look where that took him!

What place am I in to defy the rules of the site because I think that a topless woman isn't offensive? I know my place and I'm not going to change how everything about the rule works to align with my views. Don't accuse me of being sexist or acting in a sexist manner for following instructions the way I believe I am supposed to, and expected by my team to, follow them.
