their latest single peaked at #15 and is certified platinum. yeah it wasn't as successful but Same Love did not kill the momentum they had. i would argue that Same Love didn't do as well because Can't Hold Us was still smashing hard when it was being pushed and even at the same time Same Love still did pretty amazingly.
people are definitely still here for Macklemore though. the song didn't kill anything for them. i've seen more hate for it from gays than i've seen from anyone else. idk how it did where you live but it was a HUGE radio song where i am.
also you said that BTW killed Gaga yet the album spawned 3 more top 10 singles after BTW came out so....
the gays have nothing to do with it. it's just logic tbh.
edit: i also wanted to add that you can argue that White Walls didn't do as amazingly because it's less poppy than their other songs but that's all on how you interpret it.
