more like proof that the 2 of them aren't that big to begin with, the lack of starpower is just
Not really. Whitney and Mariah were superstars, yet "When You Believe" wasn't nearly the most successful collaboration of all time (not that WYB is bad because I like that song ).
There are a few factors as to why that song isn't doing well. It sucks for number 1.

that was a different era tho, where songs depended on radioplay to get ~out there~ so they were completely dependent on radio reception. In the digital age, when 2 current huge superstars collab, the song should at least debut big. ~79k for a "high profile" collab is abysmal
Shakira slays world music period. I thought Bernie was going in that direction at first too because of Grown Woman and Standing on the Sun. Irony being everyone thought she was stalling for ''bigger'' songs but those are bigger than any on her CD.

hihi Take Back The Night and TKO both did more and they were midday Friday releases (less than three days of sales)
Shakira hasn't been overly popular in awhile. "Waka Waka" or whatever was a fluke.
She really does come from the era of Gwen, Nelly, and Fergie, and all of them ending up flopping in some way after a hiatus. Fergie is yet to be seen, but she'll flop, too.
Rihanna feat. Britney went straight to #1. I blame this on Shakira.
that was during rihanna's peak. if the ladies collabed now it would tank just like this.rihanna is safe just because, while she doesnt have the strong following to debut big, she always has radio on her side and releases the right material.
