She does, Aretha is irrelevant outside of the US (forreal).
Respect is known but outside of that the situations surrounding the 60s stopped her from being as huge as say Tina Turner.
Aretha Franklin is the blueprint for r&b vocalist and singers. Beyonce is not, so no she does not have the same impact. Tina Turner is not the greatest vocalist but her solo songs are classic and remembered, something Beyonce doesn't have either.

Replace JFad with Nicole Kidman and we have a deal. The JFad phenomenon is quite a local / Anglo-Saxan one. So is SSandra but at least she has longevity on her side. Not sure about Meryl but you kind of have to include her in these things even though she's unknown to many demographics, especially outside of the USA.
That essay Beyonce wrote was really awful though. It's not even the grammar. You have spell checks and peeople who are paid just to correct those errors, it was just so shallow I didn't expect anything deeper coming from Beyonce though.
