For a quick starter, I can pick out a couple of things:
- No creative central midfielders (Ferguson didn't get one, Moyes tried getting Fabregas) as a long-term replacement for Scholes, and Carrick when he retires
- Lack of wing support
- No 'big' left-leaning defender to replace Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra
- No one besides Welbeck as a support system up-front for Van Persie/Hernandez
It's all repairable with a few decent signings. Moyes can't finalise a decent 11 for a strategy because at present there is no starting 11 to speak of. Fergie had the 11 but Scholes is gone and Rooney/Van Persie aren't together enough due to injury.
