But that's only because you've been raised to believe a mother and father are ideal. The culture you grow up in teaches you this.
I fail to see the benefits of having opposite sex parents. Can you actually provide some besides those that are defined by society's gender roles? (ie. no "you need a mommy to be warm and soft, and a daddy to be tough and stern!") Basically, is there some fundamental BIOLOGICAL difference between men and women that truly would benefit a child? Beyond breastfeeding, I can't think of one (and that's a largely irrelevant issue considering many women don't breastfeed anymore, and that only affects a small portion of your childhood).
