But the Kings of Social Media -- Facebook and Twitter -- have been active since 2005 and 2006 respectively, and have been a driving force in social media since 2009. Madonna has been around social media for years now, and has yet to do something embarrassing, like name her fanbase or overhype her releases, or talk to her fans 24/7. She has more important things to be doing, and that's why she's one of the richest women in the world; self-made, mind you.
When Lady Gaga stops worrying about which critic said what and focuses on making good music, things will start to click for her again. But she'll never be Madonna, no matter how desperately she wants to be.
