Lana didn't sell out. She sold a lot albums before the remix.
Her music is not mainstream enough that's why the remix catches on. The remix happen by itself not initiated by Lana if that make sense idk.
What I'm trying to say is that Cedric remix happened naturally because she released SS in Europe and it was a big hit so a lot DJ started mixing that song. In fact, just about every songs on BTD has an unofficial remix.
It got a lot Airplay in clubs and then radio. Her team saw that and decided to release it.
It is completely different to say Xtina DWUW remix which was a definition of desperation for the charts.
Royals is cute and US edit which makes the song radio friendly.
Team is radio candy.
