I think it's because she's so colorful and childish since the Best Damn Thing era and her heavy eye liner also makes her look a BIT "slit eyed"? (is that an acceptable term?)
The fact that she even did a version of Girlfriend in Japanese probably helped too.
This picture had me really thinking she was about to do something this era. Then i heard the ARTPOP sings played at Swinefest... and then the dreadful album.
Glitter was hyped up by Mariah like her personal project because she had little control over her career prior to Rainbow (the album before Glitter) and the singles from the album and the album itself flopped and her label betrayed her, bought out her contract and basically left her on the street to fend for herself. All throughout the era Mariah was posting weird, self defensive things on her website much like Madame GayGay is doing now.
I don't get how you like Loverboy that much lol. I think it's really fun in a super trashy 'this is so bad it's good' way but it's not like an actual good song....
