The GP don't give a damn about tour gross and net worth
Icons deliver great music and hits, those girls don't.

But a large part of tour gross is getting the general public to shell out big bucks to see you in concert.
After 8 years,Rihanna just had her first tour where large blocks of dates were not discounted on Groupon or cancelled due to low ticket sales and she was still dragged in the U.S. and worldwide by girls with fewer hits.
What does that say about her iconic status?

To be honest Rihanna lacks a lot of iconic performances, outfits, and moments in the music scene , but she has had many hits that make her a fresh iconic face of the generation.
* Gaga , she was epic in 2010 but she just faded quickly
* Miley? She is just very popular , but an ICON? Lets not go that far
* Beyonce? , she is more iconic than Rihanna, but she came out before Britney in 1997.
So yeah, the most iconic diva since Britney is Rihanna

3) again a big song.
4) biggest artist thanks to singles. But like I stated that doesn't make you iconic. It makes you forgettable once you start to fall flat on that spectrum.
5) so is every other pop star. Not iconic in anyway.
6) she's been slandered left and right as a performer as well. But we can pretend she's acclaimed. Or that she sings more than 30% of the words during her shows.
7) JT can play guitar and drums. Beyonce can't play instruments but her star power makes her so iconic there doesn't have to be a thread about it.
8) Her cowriting skills must be horrid, because she is a singles artist, and her singles are the best material on her albums, and she has only written one single. The lyrics being fairly shallow and not even having rhythmic structure.
Lol but "scalp away" with these tired receipts.

Bad Romance and Poker Face are bigger than any hit Rihanna has put out. The Fame/The Fame Monster is a bigger album than any album Rihanna has put out. The Monster Ball Tour and The Born This Way Ball Tour are bigger than any tour Rihanna has embarked on in gross and attendance.
Gaga has iconic performances like Paparazzi at the VMAs and Born This Way at the Grammys. Rihanna has no iconic performances.
Gaga is a bigger icon. Rihanna puts out more songs.

If the video is well known, then the song is well known. Make sense. FYI Single Ladies, the song sold 9 million copies WORLDwide.

Since it's been so long since Beyonce has had a hit, people affiliate her more to her business ventures rather than her music.
She has practically no memorable songs (apart from Crazy In Love which was only a hit in English speaking countries) whereas Rihanna has a ton.
|
What you've outlined thought is rather hard to prove. Considering that Beyonce just released a landmark album, currently selling more in a few weeks than most sell in a year, I think we can assume that people aren't thinking Pepsi when you say the name Beyoncé. What's the difference between hit songs and hit albums anyway? Albums contain 10+ songs. If an album is a hit, there is more music being consumed by that artist than a hit song and so if you don't agree that it is a better indication of popularity, you should at least be able to admit that it is of equal importance. Beyonce's last hit you ask? December 13th, 2013. And every week since.
Now onto the memorable songs part, I'm not going to comment on your opinion that Rihanna has a ton of memorable songs, but I will say that Single Ladies is extremely memorable. And that Crazy in Love peaked in the top ten of 14 non-English speaking countries, 11 of which were top 5 peaks. So please do some simple research before you start to post inaccuracies.

The media, press, her peers, the younger generation call her The Queen, Queen B. She's held like royalty. She has more celebrities at her show than an award shows. Those celebrities stan OUT for her. + plus her brand is bigger than any artist in this gen. And I won't get into her performances.

To answer the OP, the most iconic artist since Britney came out is without a doubt Lady Gaga. If Miley keeps up doing thing the way she has, she has a chance. As much as you want it to be true, Gaga's current album situation does not take anything away from the iconic hits, performances, looks, etc. from 2009-2010. Even BTW is more iconic than most artists.

Yeah, Pitbull and Flo-Rida have a lot of hit jingles too, by your logic they are iconic too. Gaga and Bey have plenty of hit songs, but in addition they also sell albums, have huge tour gross and are more global. Rih has only had one number 1 album in 8yr career, she's been surpassed in album sells by girls who came after her like Gaga, Adele etc. And again by your logic, Pitbull and Flo-Rida deliver great music and are icons because they have a lot of # 1 jingles.lol Call me when Rih can drop an album with no promo and sell 2.5 million in 3wks, gross over 188 million on tour then we can talk hun.
