Theres hate for the song because pop fans are sheepish and they gravitate towards whatever specific type of sound thats currently trending. If a song doesn't exist within that limited scope of whats trendy than its an outcast and pop fans won't cling onto it because they only feel they can cling onto something that many other people are clinging onto.
CRTFY has a rocksteady instrumental, Jamaican island rock similar to No Doubt's past work as an example. What else has that vibe right now? Thats why theres people in here saying they don't like it. Its unfamiliar and unexpected. Its not some cliche dance song that they can hate on for being too typical or like because it
is typical and its not some minimal electro song with a white-friendly urban twist that they can fit into the whole minimal pop wave of Lorde/A$AP/Lana/Beyonce/etc.
Of course this is just me judging by these little tiny snippets. Snippets or demos are never ever ever that far from the finished product so im sure it will sound like this. But snippets are always taken out of context. You never know what the rest of the song will sound like until you hear it.
