Applause had probably been the lead single for a while (after it beat out Sexxx Dreams), but Aura seemed very obviously placed as the second single and Telephone continuation. Then, when it leaked, it was made clear that it wasn't as good as Gaga thought it was and I think the Machete Kills lyric video was the final nail in the coffin for it ever being a single. Post Swinefest, I think she wrote Venus in an attempt to make a safe smash and picked DWUW off the cutting room floor as per Troy's request and he suggested to put R Kelly on it because he knew he was releasing an album at the same time. They may have taken Gypsy off the cutting room floor as well because that didn't seem like it would be completed by her and RedOne.
Then there's IWBWY/Dope. She said they wanted her to include it because it was a ballad and Lorde was smashing, so she turned it into an edgier ballad that wouldn't be a radio hit.
You start getting the picture of how tense things must have been between her and Troy...

That's not Troy's fault, though. I mean, if she had to resort to picking things up from the cutting room floor that means that the music she had actually planned to release wasn't good enough, right? And that means she's bypassing the words around her. Why would her team ask her to cut DWUW and Gypsy when they're arguably the most hit-friendly songs on the album?
I understand these are all assumptions, but if that's the case, it's her fault for not listening to what people are telling her. I mean, if she did everything her label asked her to do at the time, would she be in such a messy situation right now? No. But she is, and she's sulking because of it. Who's to blame? She needs to
stop playing the blame game before the few remaining people who are actually still by her cut her off too.
I also wish she'd stop taking constructive criticism as negativity. Like Wendy Williams for example. All she did was lay down the grounds of the situation and give her constructive criticism. Gaga needs to stop this "criticism is killing the artist, if you don't know what you're talking about you can't have a say" sort of thing.
If she literally can't swallow her pride at this point, she's gonna go even harder than an anchor in water. Which nobody here wants.
