Lana did promote a bit though, she did American Idol, Letterman, SNL.. I'm not saying she got Katy Perry levels of promo but it's not like she had no exposure in the US, it's just that the few times she performed she got backlash for her bad singing voice. So they pulled a Britney on her..

Interscope pushed HARD the Lana singles, they released them on radio but they didn't wanted them. The promo, we all saw what happened on SNL, it was going to do more harm than good. Katy can get away with it because her songs are catchy & fun.

I don't think so. She hasn't had radio adds dates for her songs prior to SS Remix. If they had, she would've taken off earlier without the need of an EDM remix.
