Well, the remixes got it to the top 20 again, at least. Too bad it's just going to plummet back out next week.

Song is underperforming. Bad move to include Xtina?

Lorde is very likely to take home a few awards at the Grammys on Jan. 26. She's the front-runner to win Record and Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for her breakthrough smash, "Royals." The 17-year old phenom will probably have other reasons to celebrate by month's end too—namely having two songs in the top 10 on the Hot 100. Her former #1 smash "Royals" holds at #4 this week. Her new single, "Team," jumps from #19 to #14 in its 15th week.
|
Royals will definitely be up there with "Somebody That I Used to Know" and "Rolling in the Deep" if it wins Such INCREDIBLE achievement it will be for Ella O-Connor

It's not going to happen, but I would love Daughtry to get a #1 this era.
Get it Work B**ch! Come for that eventual but never happening number 1.
Gaga needs to give me my video so Do what you Want can actually make top Ten.
Drunk in Love needs to gain a lot so it and Slay Something can get that number 1.

There are plenty of Eminem stans on ATRL. And we're more than happy for "The Monster" staying atop for four weeks. Now it's time for "Timber" to slay.

#14 for Team! With the way it is performing on iTunes and radio it could go top 10 next week!

Sales should be the most important factor, but because the Hot 100 has so many different criteria now, and some unfairly weighted, a song that isn't even the most popular can be #1 on the Hot 100.
Timber has been above The Monster in sales and streams but because radio is overplaying The Monster constantly, timber is stuck at #2 on the Hot 100 despite obviously being the more popular song.
The Monster has sold 2.4 million WITH Christmas sales, a MV, **** load of airplay, and it's already dropping.
It doesn't really deserve all these weeks at #1 it's getting.
And Kesha is not my fav so let's not even try that with me. I just think the song is undeserving
|
You're still being pressed about "The Monster" staying atop for four consecutive weeks. FYI, Eminem's song was bigger than "Timber" a few weeks ago, hence why it's sold more. Pitbull's song has also had tons of promo, a MV and it's growing on airplay. Plus who the **** told you that song was bigger than "The Monster" on streaming?
Try to get your facts straight, you seem so bitter.

I don't get why people keep saying "sales should be the most important factor" Damn, IT IS!
Sales > Airplay > Streaming
You can see it at how the points are divided week after week. And Airplay is not so bigger than Streaming, they're almost neck-on-neck

This. If it was the other way around, Miley would have slayed since August.

People are only bitter about airplay because their faves can't afford payola.
No, seriously, people are only bitter about airplay because songs like Blurred Lines and We Found Love spend wayyy too much weeks at #1 than they would hope and their faves get blocked ( ) because their airplay continues to linger on the upper regions of the charts while it's very apparent that its sales have already peaked.
I think the airplay weight is still fair. Nielsen BDS numbers seem to be consistent over the years even though I do think it's actually quite understated. There's a lot of stations the plays of which aren't even tracked/counted for the airplay chart.
The streaming weight was the one I was worried about because of **** like Chinese Food going #29 on the singles chart with like over 90% of its points coming from YouTube streams, but it seems they have tweaked that aspect of the chart already.

Mmmm... Christina actually gave the song an extra week in the top 20 that it wouldn't have had otherwise. It's all downhill from here, really.

Um no, it's a good move. Where do you think the song would've been this week without the remix? Also the remix wasn't released the night of the performance, it was released two weeks later
