I'm not trying to discredit You And I, but TOTGA was Katy's 6th single. You and I was the 3rd succesful single from BTW and had more promo than TOTGA.

Anyways, TOY is platinum, TOTGA is multi-platinum and Wide Awake sold 3M+. Katy has proven she can be succesful doing different kind of songs.

It's not TERRIBLE, but it's not impressive considering all the promo and Gaga was still huge back then. And it's her only single than it's not dance pop.

Not really. The Fame/Monster was arguably a black swan. It was a huge moment in pop music when Gaga emerged and introduced EDM to pop music. I agree that Katy will never reach that level of influence. However, we are talking about who will outlast who, and just from their current state, Katy appears to have the guns to do that. ARTPOP was supposed to reintroduce the EDM-Ga who we lost during BTW, right? But what happened? We saw it firsthand when Gaga decided to pit her own pop-dance music against Katy's own pop brand with Roar vs Applause debacle. And then when their more urban songs faced each other again (DWUW vs Dark Horse), we saw how easily Katy galloped up the charts. People do not stan for Katy because of success. People stan for her causing her to have success.

THE PUBLIC buys Katy's songs, so it's safe to assume they are well received. You and I did decently well especially considering where Gaga was in her career at that point, but that's it. The Edge of Glory may not exactly be dance but it's no way a ballad (which is what I said Gaga is bad at) and it's definitely upbeat.

I am not sure... Gaga is kinda over right now but she could back up anytime. I mean... 1 year cannot define if you're over or not. Katy on the other hand is successful right now, but if she serves yet another album like Prism and TD I feel she will drop into oblivion.


In the end... I will say Katy will outlast but not by much

Katy's only well received "ballad" then is Wide Awake then by that logic...so what is your point exactly? You have none. Because TOY, TOTGA, and Unconditionally weren't huge and she has yet to release one risky single. All of her songs have been radio friendly pop songs, the only song that strays at all from that title is Dark Horse which I guess has some Urban influences.
