Damita Jo is overall better than 20 Y.O and Discipline. 20 Y.O. was just.... so I won't even discuss that mistake. But both Damita Jo and Disciplline has its flaws. Damita Jo has the cohesiveness that Discipline lacks and it has a better concept than Discipline's flimsy concept. Damita Jo also has a better vocal delivery and you actually feel her emotion on the album. Janet sounded like she phoned in her vocals on Discipline. Its obvious that she didn't write on the album because she sounds so disconnected from the music. Both albums have peaks and valleys. Damita Jo punches, then lags, then punches again, then lags once more. Disciplne punches from Feedback-Can't Be Good. The rest is barely worth mentioning. Overall both pale in comparison to her classic albums; but I have to give it to Damita Jo. You actually felt her effort on that album and even tho its singles lacks the commercialism of Feedback, Rock With U or Luv; its still an overall solid album. Discipline she truly just took the backseat and let others write for her which really upset me as a fan.
