This is true but then Madonna was always compared to Britney and they were heavily associated for a while in the mid 00s. The difference is that Britney was never really a threat to Madonna, she was more like a protege and a successor whereas with Gaga I think she felt a level of ambition that Britney didn't have and was a lot cattier than she usually is with new girls
Gaga also struck when Madonna turned 50 which is usually the breaking point for women in the entertainment industry.
In the end it just makes it funnier that Gaga is plummeting so soon, but back in 2010 the comparisons seemed legitimate if only for a bit.
