WCS's sales are great considering that radio treated it a la Gangnam Style. Same goes for MSKWYDITD by Fall Out Boy.

Wrecking Ball is still selling well and should cross 4 million within a year or so.

You all have to remember that she isn't a multiformat radio artist like Katy (who gets sales from adult radio listeners as well).

Everyone knows her songs due to the streaming aspect of the charts.
That's like saying sad for Just Give Me A Reason, When I Was Your Man, Get Lucky, etc... Because their streaming numbers weren't as high as Blurred Lines, We Can't Stop, Wrecking Ball, Harlem Shake, etc...

You'd have to living under a rock to try and act like she wasn't THE popstar in America this year. Perhaps worldwide she wasn't that big, but got her first two UK #1 singles, her first Hot 100 #1, topped billboard 200 with one of the highest debuts of a female, EVERYONE was talking about her this year, everything she did made headlines, etc.

Gaga had controversy and headlines and her sales were FAR superior.

The same with other artists who did it with no controversy (Katy, Ke$ha, Lorde and Rihanna for example).

She was the biggest celebrity of the year.

But a singer success should be measured by its sales.

P!nk, Lorde, Katy, Rihanna sold more Albums & Singles with 100 times less headlines and controversy.
