Birthday already is getting a lot of plays in Spotify and YouTube. A good indicator of success later. We had no such indicators for Uncle, plus it's uptempo, so that alone should spell better results.

The only reason Unconditionally flopped was because of Dark Horse. The only way Katy could ever flop is if she accidentally made her self flop. Radio station kept mistaking Dark Horse for the second single therefore splitting the radio spins and downloads :/ Capitol shouldn't have released such a good song as a promo. But oh well. EVERYONE that pre ordered ARTPOP got DWUW automatically.

Unconditionally came out the same day as Prism. Unconditionally sales were all based on people INDIVIDUALLY downloading it.

It will be a hit, but it's hard to predict whether or not it could go #1. That depends on so many factors outside the quality of the song. Competition for example.

Now, Look at Madonna. The worlds most successful female pop star and one of the worlds most successful musicians. She did not get to that place by selling Massive amounts once or twice (like gaga) in, fact she doesn't have an album in the top ten of best selling albums in the world BUT she has still sold more records than any other female on the planet? Why? - Because her albums always sell, reasonably well. She's been able to maintain the general publics interest for over 30 years.

So Ya'll wasting your time having disagreements over who has outsold who. Longevity is actually all about maintaining the general public's interest ....

Is anyone, really prepared to argue that lady gaga has the general public's interest in this era

Madonna didn't start flopping until recently, and even her "flops" outsell some of today's hit albums.
