context. Jesus... yes during that period of history blackface was a huge problem.
But let's move forward a few decades, the guilt tripping has to stop. There was some ad put up in Thailand ages ago where the model had her face smeared in black paint, and people were outraged, the ad had to be taken down - I'm sorry that's not racist. Blackface was dealt with half a century ago. A good chunk of our generation probably don't even know about it... (not saying that's a good thing but still, it shows the stigma surrounding it has died out)
A white dude slapping on makeup and pretending to be Ghandi is as racist as an african american putting on a blonde wig and dressing up as Scarlet Johnson.
It all comes down to whether or not he's being derogatory about it...
