I do not underestimate them. After all, Michael Jackson's most valuable possessions when he died were the publishing rights to the Beatles music.

But none of these girls except Adele make the majority of their money from record sales, especially not Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Rihanna, or Katy Perry, so I hardly see it as "logical" that Rihanna will earn less than a Gaga or Katy over the coming few years. Her endorsements over the past few years have panned out well, and the Diamonds World Tour was more profitable than Katy's most successful effort yet (though I'm sure her next tour will do well).

One of Rihanna's greatest assets is that few female pop stars have ever achieved such cross-demographic social acceptance to the point where association with her bears no stigma regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation. On the other hand, you could say that's at least partially a result of her inability to compel much interest as a public figure beyond her music.
