Most groups sing live with a backing track 100% of the time, with the exception of certain members (for example, Jooyeon literally never sings live, neither does Soyeon). Sometimes the backing track varies in its...volume. SM artists are the only ones who repeatedly lipsync or use pre-recorded vocals, mainly during the first week of promotions. It's really not that big a deal since the ratio of lipsynced performances to live performances is like 1:10 but some people find it annoying.
Even for comeback stages though, most artists sing live. They might keep the backing track a little bit louder during the first couple of performances but I've never known any group/artist to do that before. For example, Girl's Day sang live for their Something stage today. The super high head voice bit was practically indiscernible because the backing track was loud, but it's nearly impossible to sing in the head voice with stability while dancing. You can't really fault them for that, if you have reasonable standards.
And just adding my two cents here, L is an okay singer, he just needs to learn to hear himself better cause he's flat a lot, especially when transitioning from mixed to mid-chest voice. Plus he sings from his nose a lot.

Sungjong just doesn't even bother singing a lot of the time because his part in songs is often mixed in with the music. Also he can't really sing so there's that.
