Aura had that effect because people were wanting Gaga. Then all of a sudden the promo kicked in and she started to annoy people again with her overbearing promo. They should have kept it simple

Besides, surprise release of Aura and a video of the telephone continuation would have decimated the charts

But the VMA's performance of Applause kept it in the top ten for ages and her UK promo got her a 65k debut.

In fact I still think if the Xfactor performance had not been so messy and she had just not sung Venus at all she would have debuted at closer to 100k
