Yeah, Brenda (in part 1) is a parody of Brandy's character in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. The name is even similar to Brandy.

Her "death" scene was Jada's in Scream 2, though.

It has nothing to do with her "wrongs." I just can't see Aaliyah playing such a role, just like I can't see Beyonce or Ciara playing "Brenda." It felt made for Regina Hall.

Not true. Long Distance & Right Here went #1 on the Dance charts

And there's a reason why. She didn't have radio support since Full Moon era because of the lying, and the lack of promotion for her singles in Afrodisiac and Human. With Human, she was given pop songs when her core audience wasn't the pop crowd. Right Here did surprisingly well given the circumstance (The accident and her sound totally changing).

There's REASONS why she didn't get a top 10 besides "Brandy is over"

Let's get over the ****-shaming nonsense. R.Kelly was an adult male and therefore deserves all responsibility for that. Aside from that, yes, Aaliyah dated around. There is NOTHING wrong with a woman having a couple of boyfriends in brief periods of time.
