I agree with you on Memoirs,but not on E
E was actually a big creative step for Mimi.It's her most Urban/ Hip-hop oriented album like EVER. Usually she does R&B with a lot of Pop influence,and a couple of rap feats,but most of this album was nothing but hard hitting heavy base.
Only real pop songs on it was " TMB and I'm That Chick"
Everything else was PURE R&B and Hip-Hop.She even tried reggae for the first time.
Vocally though,she really held back,but you have to remember the state of her voice at the time.(it was horrid,strained and thin from touring previously in 06) but she had a few interesting moments vocally,like the long ass whistle on "for the record "<3)
What ruined E=MC2 was the single choices,and Mimi's choice to enjoy her new marriage(she rightfully deserved)

She went from a mature look (MC - E), to a girl-next-door/cutesy girl (MB - D), to a sexy yet classy woman (B - #1's), to a ****ty, sexy woman (R), to a straight-up ***** (G), to a woman in rehab (C), to a confident yet sexy woman (TEOM), to a polished anorexic with little sleep (E=MC2), to a woman facing midlife crisis & thinks it's 1999 (MOAIA - MCIIY).
