Unconditionally is a really beautiful song and I think she wanted something that wasn't such a "popy" type song to become a hit. I think she is tired of being the girl known as having a bunch of "generic" number ones. Although, number one means winning

I'm glad that she at least is willing to listen to the GP. Many artists believe that they can tell people what to like and they will, but this is just not the case. No artist is infallible, everyone has to get it right to succeed and releasing Dark Horse now is the right choice.

Even though it underperformed as a single, I don't think Uncle hurt Katy one bit. I think the fact that she performed it everywhere - even if it didn't help the song become a hit - at least showed the GP another side to her music that's not all candy and cartoons. If Taylor released one of her ballads and performed it so much, even if it didn't hit the top ten, I'd still be a happy stan. And between Roar still being huge and Dark Horse coming, it's not as if Katy actually has to go any significant length of time without a hit on the charts.

I have to say, though, I don't get the appeal of Dark Horse at all. It's OK and everything, but nothing special, so I'm surprised the GP is so here for it.

WA and TOTGA are not traditional ballads the way U is. They were mid tempo, quirky and hooky. The GP likes that about katy. U just took itself way too seriously, had a weak melody, and did not play to Katy's strengths (especially the snoozefest of a video).

My impression first listen on 10/16 was "oh no, this is not good." Heck. I liked WOA better. And that this was trying to be kelly clarkson, who I like, but it didn't play to Katy's quirky originality. It came off generic and boring.

Thankfully we have moved on to DH and it seems that radio and the GP are in line with my sentiments.

It's a great song and I'm so happy Katy gave it all that promo and video that it deserved. Hopefully she can rerelease it later after DH, LL and Birthday smash!

This song was a flop from the get go, her second single should have always been dark horse! If she wants to release a ballad she needs to make sure it's perfect like Thinking of You (yes the song flopped but at least it was amazing)
