I really sometimes think that things are quite suspicious with my own fave, and I see this with many other artists such as Katy Perry - Dark Horse is #3 on iTunes with no promotion, low airplay, no video and PRISM randomly jumped from #10 to #3 on iTunes today. With my own fave, Gaga, I think that her being in the Top 15 best-selling albums of the year on Amazon is a bit suspicious and that the tons of rebounds for Applause on radio was a bit weird. What about your fave? Do you ever think like, how is this even possible?

2. PRISM has been discounted to $6.99
3. the song connected with the GP from the start
4. many other songs smash without promotion, the real problem is when you promote the song everywhere and fail to reach the top 10 on iTunes.

This. Not to mention... "Dark Horse" is already getting a lot of airplay. It's been officially released for two weeks, and it hasn't even been released to pop radio, but it's getting more airplay than "Unconditionally" already. I've heard it a lot on the radio in late November and all throughout December.

I didn't say it surpassed "The Monster".... It's obviously not on that level yet. "The Monster" has been on radio a lot longer, not to mention it actually has a music video for promotion and it's #1 at the moment. I said "Dark Horse" was getting more airplay than "Unconditionally" at the moment in my area....

If Katy had a payola, she should have had Top 10 hit for Unconditionally. Dark Horse is bound to smash. The song is good and it already has 16 million+ views on vevo. Did Katy pay Vevo as well? Plus it has sold more than 800 thousand copies with barely no promo.

I do think that artists use payola on radio, but no I don't suspect them of buying their own material (on itunes, amazon, etc)
