I heard of Basshunter and like Northern Light. So IDK if I should check out this album. Maybe not, but will for his past work. Like some of the songs on Ellie’s deluxe album, Drake’s album is his best work so far and like some of the slow and R&B type of songs found there and his rapping songs aren’t that bad. Reflektor is some kind of amazing album, heard only Too Many Friends from Placebo this year, True has some good mix of music on that album and must hear the soundcloud version with Dan of Heart Upon my Sleeve. Also like Avicii’s old stuff as well. I Love You is such a great album and really set a slow and tepid sound that I actually like and they make it work. Like Pope’s album of pop songs with country influences. Must hear White Lies, The Naked and Famous, Armin van Buuren and Cut Copy's albums. Enjoyed the singles from those bands. Great set for the most part. Nice descriptions of the album’s info and background along with your feelings about it overall. Keep it light and well for your own take.

This Is Icona Pop is amazing. I love every song from "I Love You", so good. True was a big letdown for me, I agree with you, I wanted more songs like his old music, I'm so sick of Wake Me Up and all its copies big disappointment

I'm just glad that, apparently, I have not missed much.
I really need to check out that Naked and Famous album, ESPECIALLY if "Hearts Like Ours" is not the best song. Oh, and it's just a reflektor.

BEST ALBUMS OF 2013
#35. Empire of The Sun
Ice on the Dune
|
Ice on the Dune is the second studio album by Australian electronic music duo Empire of the Sun. It was released on 14 June 2013 by Capitol Records. The album's cover art, designed by Aaron Hayward and David Homer from Sydney studio Debaser, won an Artisan Award prior to the ARIA Music Awards of 2013, held on 1 December, In addition, the album was nominated for Best Pop Release, Engineer of the Year (Peter Mayes) and Producer of the Year (Luke Steele, Nick Littlemore, Peter Mayes and Jonathan Sloan). Empire of the Sun were also nominated for Best Group for the album. Ice on the Dune received generally positive reviews from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 68 based on 20 reviews, which indicates "generally favorable reviews". Tim Sendra of Allmusic said the album "ends up being everything a good modern pop record should be, and then some. The songs have super-sharp choruses, incessantly listenable arrangements built on acoustic, electric, and programmed instruments, and icy-cold but immediate beats", judging that the duo have "skill at crafting perfect pop... depth in their songs" and concluding, "Modern pop doesn't get any better than this."
[/B]Genre[/B]: Eletronic / Synthpop / Dance
Favorite Tracks:
1. DNA
2. Alive / I'll Be Around
3. Ice on the Dune
4. Awakening |
#34. Krewella
Get Wet
|
Get Wet is the debut studio album by American electronic dance music group Krewella. It was released in the United States on September 24, 2013, by Columbia Records. The album made its debut at number forty on the New Zealand Albums Chart. In the US, Get Wet is my favorite album for gym, many epic songs to work out. Well, 2013 was definitely the year of eletronic for me, this genre grown even more for me, Krewella is a part of this, they're so promising.
Genre: Electronic / House / Dubstep / Progressive House
1. Live for the Night
2. Enjoy the Ride / Alive
3. Human / Come & Get It
4. Ring of Fire |
#33. Daft Punk
Random Access Memories
 |
Random Access Memories is the fourth studio album by French electronic music duo Daft Punk. It was released by the duo's imprint Daft Life, under exclusive license to Columbia Records, on 17 May 2013. The album pays tribute to the late 1970s and early 1980s era of music in the United States, particularly the sounds that emerged from Los Angeles. This tribute was reflected in the gradual promotional rollout for the album that included billboards, television advertisements, and a web series. Unlike their previous studio albums, Daft Punk recruited session musicians to record live instrumentation in professional studio locations, and limited the use of electronic instruments to drum machines, a custom-built modular synthesizer, and vintage vocoders. The album features collaborations with Giorgio Moroder, Panda Bear, Julian Casablancas, Todd Edwards, DJ Falcon, Chilly Gonzales, Nile Rodgers, Paul Williams, and Pharrell Williams. Random Access Memories is the duo's most critically successful album to date, scoring 87/100 on Metacritic. I always liked Daft Punk but Random Access Memories is an overrated album, that's the truth, sorry guys.
Genre: Eletronic / Disco
Favorite Tracks:
1. Doin' It Right / Get Lucky
2. Contact
3. Lose Yourself to Dance / Instant Crush
4. Give Life Back to Music

#32. Kings of Leon
Mechanical Bull
|
Mechanical Bull is the sixth studio album by American rock band Kings of Leon, released in Ireland, Germany, Sweden and Australia on September 20, 2013, in the United Kingdom on September 23, 2013, and in North America on September 24, 2013 via RCA Records. All songs written and composed by Caleb Followill, Nathan Followill, Jared Followill and Matthew Followill. Critical reception was generally positive. At Metacritic, the album holds an average score of 70 out of 100, based on 30 reviews, indicating generally favorable reviews. I don't have much to say about Mechanical Bull, maybe I was expecting more from them because Kings of Leon is my one my favorite bands, but I really don't know, I like Mechanical Bull, the album is good but maybe the album was not made for my moment. Sorry Kings of Leon.
Genre: Alternative Rock
Favorite Tracks:
1. Wait For Me
2. Beautiful War / Coming Back Again
3. Work On Me / Last Mile Home
4. Tonight |
#31. John Mayer
Paradise Valley
|
Paradise Valley is the sixth studio album by musician John Mayer. Musically, it is similar to his previous album, Born and Raised, which was released in 2012. However, this album features more musical breaks and instrumentals consisting of electric guitars rather than harmonica. It was released on August 20, 2013. The album's title is derived from a major river valley of the Yellowstone River with the same name, located in southwestern Montana. Paradise Valley garnered generally positive reception from music critics. Metacritic, a review-aggregator site which assigns a weighted average score based on a number of selected ratings and reviews from mainstream music critics, gave the album 73 out of 100. Anthony DeCurtis, writing for Rolling Stone, noted that this release "continues that autobiographical journey" noticeable in Mayer's previous offerings, and showcases Mayer "in a relaxed, joyful frame of mind... Mayer continues to blow down the road, this time carrying far less baggage and all the better for it." At The Oakland Press, Gary Graff noted that the album has an "anything-goes attitude", and felt Mayer had "turned in some of his most peaceful music yet." Matt Collar of Allmusic felt that the sound on the album "rings true." I love John Mayer, he's one of my favorite singers but I think I'm not here for his folk/country influence. I love folk/country bands/songs but not for John Mayer style. I still prefer his last album, Born and Raised.
Genre: Folk Rock / Acoustic / Country Rock / Pop
Favorite Tracks:
1. Paper Doll
2. I Will Be Found (Lost At Sea) / Who You Love (feat. Katy Perry)
3. Dear Marie / Badge and Gun
4. On The Way Home |
#30. Lady GaGa
ARTPOP
|
Artpop is the third studio album by American recording artist Lady Gaga. It was released on November 6, 2013 by Streamline and Interscope Records. Recording and writing for the album began after the launch of her second studio album Born This Way (2011) and "began to flourish" during and after her Born This Way Ball tour. Production was handled by Gaga herself, newcomers Zedd, Madeon, as well as longtime collaborators Paul "DJ White Shadow" Blair and RedOne. It also features guest appearances from T.I., Too Short, Twista, and R. Kelly. Artpop has been described by Gaga as "a celebration and a poetic musical journey" that displays an intentional "lack of maturity and responsibility" in comparison to the darker and anthemic nature of her previous album Born This Way, as well exploring the existence of a "reverse Warholian" phenomenon in pop culture. Lyrically, the album references Greek and Roman mythology, English novelist George Orwell, and classic jazz and electronic musician Sun Ra. Gaga has described the album's lyrical themes as "personal", including her views of fame, love, sex, feminism, self-empowerment, overcoming addiction, and reactions to media scrutiny. The 1486 painting The Birth of Venus by Italian artist Sandro Botticelli has been cited as an inspiration for Gaga's creative vision of the album, and is also prominently featured in the album's artwork created by American artist Jeff Koons, as is a nude sculpture of Gaga in front of Koon's signature blue glazing ball. Artpop received generally mixed to positive reviews from contemporary music critics, who commended the album's production, Gaga's vocals, and its ambition, while others criticized its lyrical content and lack of maturity in comparison to her previous material. Its release was prefaced by a two-day album release party dubbed an "ArtRave". Oh GaGa, what happened with you? I really love Lady GaGa but Artpop is one of the biggest letdown of the year for me, I wasn't expecting for this. Artpop is much noise for me, I don't know. I wanted more songs like Do What You Want and Gypsy and less eletronic influence, in some songs you can barely hear her voice.
Genre: Pop / Dance / Eletronic
Favorite Tracks:
1. Gypsy / Do What U Want (feat. R. Kelly)
2. Donatella / Fashion! / Dope
3. Applause / Venus
4. MANICURE |
#29. Gabrielle Aplin
English Rain
|
English Rain is the debut studio album by British singer-songwriter Gabrielle Aplin. It was released on 13 May 2013 and serves as the follow-up to her 2012 third extended play, Home. It serves as her first release with a major record label, and was released with Parlophone. English Rain debuted at number 2 in the UK Album Charts selling over 35,000 copies, it has since been certified gold in the UK, after selling 100,000. The album was generally well received by critics, praising her for her vocals but calling the album safe and not particularly adventurous. Critics praised tracks such as "Salvation" for taking Aplin out of her 'comfort-zone' and compared "Please Don't Say You Love Me", the album's second single, to Mumford and Sons.
Genre: Folk / Pop / Acoustic
Favorite Tracks:
1. Salvation
2. Evaporate / The Power of Love
3. Panic Cord / Ready To Question
4. Home / November / Alive |
#28. Britney Spears
Britney Jean
|
Britney Jean is the eighth studio album by American recording artist Britney Spears. It was released on November 29, 2013, by RCA Records. Her first studio album since the dissolution of her long-time record label, Jive Records, in 2011, Spears began recording in May 2013 and continued work into October 2013. On numerous occasions, Spears has described the album as the most personal record from her catalog. Having assumed an integral position in its production, she co-wrote each track and collaborated with songwriters and producers including Sia Furler and will.i.am to achieve her desired sound. Furthermore, the record sees guest vocals from Spears' sister Jamie Lynn, T.I., and will.i.am. I recently heard the album (only 2 weeks) and I think this position is good for now. Maybe If I'd heard before Britney Jean would be a little more higher. I always liked Britney but sometimes I had my bad moments with her. This year I was really lazy for music pop and I heard Work Bitch 1 month later and wow, what a good surprise, she came better than ever (you can see for Work Bitch video). Work Bitch (song + video) was a big surprise for me, I was not expecting something like that and then for a moment I started to feel excited for the album but when Perfume came out I was lazy to hear the song (again). Britney Jean is a good album, I don't know if I'm wrong but her voice sounds better than ever in some songs, I really can hear her voice better than ever (Brightest Morning Star, Hold Ond Tight, Perfume, Passenger, Don't Cry) without auto tune and dance/eletronic influence. I can not forget to say: THANK YOU Britney, ballads songs. I really missed ballads songs on her last albums.
Genre: Pop / Dance
Favorite Tracks:
1. Till It's Gone / Now That I Found You / Work Bitch
2. Hold On Tight / Perfume / Body Ache
3. Don't Cry
4. Chillin’ With You (feat. Jamie Lynn) |
#27. OneRepublic
Native
|
Something interesting about Native: The artwork for the album was brought up on the idea of how different each member of the group is from each other and that each one of the band members is like a different animal. Frontman Ryan Tedder is represented by a fox, drummer Eddie Fisher is represented by a mountain lion, rhythm guitarist Drew Brown is an owl, bassist Brent Kutzle is a gazelle, and lead guitarist Zach Filkins is the bison. Brent Kutzle came up with the idea of calling the album Native. According to Kutzle, it means indigenous to every country and how different they are as individuals. Native is the third studio album by American band OneRepublic. It was released on March 22, 2013 in Germany and Ireland, March 25 worldwide except North America, and March 26 in North America. The album was originally planned to be released at the end of 2012, with the lead single being "Feel Again", released on August 27, 2012. However due to the album not being completed at the time, it was pushed back to early 2013. "Feel Again" was later branded as a promotional single, and on January 8, 2013, "If I Lose Myself" was released as the lead single for the album. Native received generally positive reviews from critics. At Metacritic, a website which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 from reviews and ratings by mainstream critics, it currently holds a metascore of 65, based on seven reviews. Matt Collar of AllMusic asked the question "How do they stand out in a sea of other artists who sound so similar to them, primarily because as a songwriter, Tedder has largely defined much of the entire modern pop sound?" To this, Collar found that "In many ways, OneRepublic are a clearing house for mainstream pop sensibilities, and Native is no exception", which this leads him to espouse "Ultimately, all of this might seem like more of a knock against OneRepublic as pop opportunists, if the music weren't so dang catchy." At Entertainment Weekly, Adam Markovitz signaled that this album "is chemically pure pop-rock: flavorless, transparent and potent enough to melt your resistance like battery acid", and said that the album contains "soaring, evangelical choruses of prescription-strength goose-bump inducers like "Feel Again" and "If I Lose Myself." Johan Wippsson of Melodic.net wrote that the band has taken its sound to the next level with "Coldplay's atmospheric and epic melodies." I really liked Feel Again when I heard at the first time reminded me Coldplay for a moment and I was expecting good things about Native, but when the album came out I lost interest and I don't know why. The interest began when I heard If I Lose Myself (Alesso Remix), a friend sent me the version and then I heard the song at gym, to be honest, the remix is better than original version but right now I really like the original version too. After If I lose Myself, Counting Stars started to smash Europe and then I decided to listen Native. When I heard Native I said: Thank you god, better letter than never. I'm in love with Native, the album is powerfull and I'm glad to see OneRepublic here.
Genre: Pop Rock / Alternative Rock
Favorite Tracks:
1. Bruning Bridges / Can't Stop
2. What You Wanted
3. If I Lose Myself / Something's Gotta Give / Feel Again
4. Counting Stars / Au Revoir |
#26. Demi Lovato
DEMI
|
DEMI is the self-titled fourth studio album by American recording artist and singer Demi Lovato, released on May 10, 2013, by Hollywood Records. Looking to transition from her self-described "generic" third album Unbroken, Lovato wanted to make her next project to "have songs that excited her". The album incorporates pop and dance styles with elements of pop rock, synthpop, and bubblegum pop. Lovato co-wrote 10 of the 13 songs on the album and recorded during 2012 and 2013, when Lovato served as a judge on the second season from the American version of The X Factor. Demi received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who complimented Lovato's vocal performance. The album debuted number three on the US Billboard 200 with the first-week sales of 110,000 copies, becoming her best-selling debut week of her career. The album received generally positive reviews from music critics. According to review aggregator Metacritic, the album has a score of 64/100 based on 6 reviews. Jason Lipshutz from Billboard gave a positive review, saying that "the singer has a strong grip on her skills as a performer, but is still chiseling away at the formula that works best for her as an artist, and is unwittingly putting that self-discovery on display here." Jon Caramanica from The New York Times also gave a positive review, saying that it is " [an] often impressive fourth album."Stephen Thomas Erlewine from Allmusic gave a more mixed review, rating the album three stars out of five, saying that "Ultimately, this isn't an album of purpose, it's a collection of moments, and it has just enough good ones to solidify Demi Lovato's comeback." Demi is definitely the best star/singer of her age, no one can deny. Well, Unbroken was amazing but I was not expecting much for this era, I was not so excited and I didn't know why. To be honest I have not heard much DEMI but the album (that's why she's kinda low here) is really good, even her dance/synthpop songs. Lovato really knows how to do great ballads song, as you guys can see, my favorite tracks are the slow songs.
Genre: Pop / Dance / Pop Rock
Favorite Tracks:
1. Nightingale / Without the Love / In Case
2. Fire Starter
3. Never Been Hurt / Shouldn't Come Back
