Warning: Don’t get too upset and annoyed if any of these songs you like are listed below. This is just a personal opinion.
10. Michael Buble – It’s A Beautiful Day
Reason: The song had too much pantomime, which Michael Buble is apparently know for lately in his songs, even without the music video.
9. Mariah Carey featuring Miguel - #Beautiful
Reason: I’ve got nothing against Mariah and her vocal talents, but this was one of her weakest songs ever as it was overplayed throughout the summer.
8. Ylvis – The Fox
Reason: There was nothing about this cheesy flop that wasn’t remotely awful which was accompanied by even awful dancing and lame lyrics.
7. PSY – Gentleman
Reason: Gangnam Style was my guilty pleasure song of 2012, but this follow-up was a let-down in lots of ways. PSY probably tried replicate the success of his breakthrough hit, but failed. In fact, It sounded somewhat similar to Gangnam Style but in an egotistical way.
6. Avicii vs Nicky Romero – I Could Be The One
Reason: I usually love dance songs and at first, I liked the song but then I got really sick of it. I think it’s because of the lyrics being boring and too quick as well as the music video featuring a lady getting all ridiculous.
5. Ariana Grande – The Way
Reason: I never liked Ariana Grande because she seems too cute and innocent, which is reflected quite easily in her debut song. The song was so cheesy and unbearable, I couldn’t stand listening to it.
4. Baauer – Harlem Shake
Reason: To even call this piece of trash a song is a complete insult as it was full of noises and no lyrics at all even though it went to #1 in the US. There wasn’t even an official video released instead there were numerous videos on YouTube featuring various people dancing like idiots.
3. Miley Cyrus – We Can’t Stop
Reason: The song was downright depressing and the music video was equally disturbing since it introduced the infamous “twerk” dance. I could understand Miley was ditching her Disney image, but this was one step too far that was also, unsurprisingly, controversial.
2. The Saturdays featuring Sean Paul – What About Us?
Reason: I used to like the Saturdays years ago, but now they’re more known for dominating the tabloids than the charts. I always believed that the Saturdays would never have a #1 song, until this came along and hit the top spot in the UK. Still, I consider this to be one of their weakest songs as it’s very bland and dull even with Sean Paul’s vocals.
1. Jennifer Lopez featuring Pitbull – Live It Up
Reason: Why is it that whenever JLO releases a new song each year it always has to feature the same artist? Once or twice is OK but three times in a row is absolute overkill and this has been happening for three years! The reason why I hate this song so much is that it was a typical chessy summer song, with an over-the-top music video to match.
