Why don't people realize there's a thinly veiled line between cultural appropriation and appreciation? I'm all for people dabbling in all cultures. It's something that needs to happen. The problem lies with oppressing the very culture that it's taken from which is more than likely a minority. It takes a cultural aspect and turns it into a trend/brand usually without paying homage to the authentic culture itself. I'll use Miley since she's the easiest example. Miley poorly "twerked" on stage in front of millions all while using black women as props and is now the face of twerking. The problem is the white media going around doing such is negating the fact that it's a think that's been happening for years and actually originated in West Africa. Now white people have a poor representation of and have branded something that they are completely ignorant of.

I love Jay and I used to be unbothered by Miley and all this cultural appropriation talk, but as I lay here in my bed unable to do anything except think and overanalyze everything it dawned on me just how ****ed up it is. I see the bigger picture.
Edit: Classes really need to start back. I feel like I'm wasting my life away and doing nothing productive.
