Single Ladies was pretty eclectic musically. I must admit that even though I don't care for the song.
The mix of jazz hands and ballet moves in the dance. The mix of jazz and call and response gospel elements with a pop hook. The leotard/roboglove look. It was made to be a pop culture fixture
I live in Brazil and none of these three are forgotten.
By homosexuals maybe. In most of Latin America the pop girls are a non-factor to the GP unless they do something extremely attention whorish like Miley @ VMAs.
Single Ladies is definitely an odd song.
She's been doing fusion songs since 2003, but it really got interesting with SL.
It's a bit hip hop, a bit pop, some dance, gospel, and jazz.
And it all just blends somehow. And that whir whir whir sound... Infectious.
It took me a while to get it though, I was pro IIWAB.
I wanted that song to be #1 and SL to be forgotten. It turned out to be the opposite.
or at least the CHORUS.
