One problem that I think you guys should be aware of is that this is really difficult no matter who makes the decision (though that doesn't mean it's Lipton who decided to keep it open at all, mind you). Any moderator decision should be discussed by the whole team before being changed - I, for example, can't just go open a thread because I disagree with Kworb or Doc or Katie when they closed it. It's insulting to the moderator and their sense of judgement to do so and there's really no way one moderator is in a position to flat out undo the actions of another. The moderators constitute a team; individual decisions are evaluated, therefore, as an entire team when those decisions are brought into question at all.
If you really believe the thread should be closed, feel free to submit a help request detailing your concerns and the entire team will be able to see it, but I'm telling you now that I wouldn't expect it to be a clear cut "yeah, let's close this" and I won't be surprised at all if it remains open.
I've seen too much criticism of Lee!!, Lipton, and Ace (some of it in jest, I realize) and I can tell you from being on the team for a few months now: it's pretty universally unwarranted. 
But I still think some mods purposely play dumb for the sake of indirectly shading. All I know is that you Katie and Doc are the only mods I actually trust.
