The tech imagery was so well done. Dropping that was one of the biggest mistakes of the era.

The look just never went anywhere. She never explained what the tech imagery had to do with ARTPOP. Everything went all over the place after that.

This is basically what I've been trying to say. Lady Gaga is kind of the public figurehead for the music of the past 2-3 years that people want to move away from. Dancepop hardly sells anything anymore in general unless it has folk/alternative roots in which case it sells a ton (Timber).
