Same here. I eventually became a world-class trainer competitively near the latter parts of the DP era and promptly stopped competitive battling altogether for no good reason. I still love to play PBR, though. I've probably logged tons more hours on there than on BW, B2W2, and XY combined so far!

Rental battles were my **** too. Battle Revolution was my first competitive battling experience too, but I sucked so hard during that era.

You know what though? Emerald's idea of "competitive battling" was EVIL. It took me ages to even get my first Frontier Symbol and it was Lucy's.

I never played the frontier until the one in HG/SS (which I hear were more easy) , but they still gave me so much trouble

I thought with my amazing trained Pokemon I'd slay, but omg

Yeah, the fourth generation Frontier was way less awful, but even then it's really difficult. With a properly EV trained team it's probably a breeze, but who has time for that when it's just an in-game thing, you know? So you really have to strategize when doing the Frontiers for a hope at even the silver symbols/prints.

I got a 3DS and a DS lite. The DS lite can play GBA games, but not Gameboy (Color) games like Yellow.

But yeah, I have a DSTT card, but I never managed to run old Gameboy games on it.

I play Game Boy and Game Boy Color games with the R4.
My Gameboy Color stopped working years ago, it was the amazing green one.

It took me three tries to beat her and I never managed to get another symbol after her.

I'm gonna try with my current team though!
