Unconditionally didn't even get to top 30 on AC before it was killed by the freeze. I would imagine it will be picked up after but I don't really control that.

I don't bother to look up the Lyrics for Roar, so you may right in that departement.

But musically they used for the hook three of four fundamental notes of the theme of Beethovens 5th Symphony and for the side theme 5 of 10 notes from Sergei Prokoffef's Peter and The Wolf, quite smart me thinks.

I think 4 failed because she released the two worst songs on the album as the two first singles. The crapload of singles after the album's release didn't help either. They wasted ALL the chances they had to bring the album back on track after the disastrous lead single. The pretty incredible amount of sales the album had (without having a top ten hit) proves that the demand was there.

"Unconditionally" is fine, IMO. The issue with it is that there it got lost in the shuffle of much harder hitting single. "Roar" is still doing well and "Dark Horse" was itching to do something. Sometimes it's not good to release a song when another song is still doing well.
