Celine and Mariah - despite being just as successful on the music front - couldn't even compete with Whitney in terms of respect and media presence. And Beyonce's star reminds me a lot of Whitney's (and Diana's).
Beyonce is has a lot more acclaim and incites greater interest/excitement as a public figure than Mariah or Celine ever did tho.
The thing with Beyoncé is that she's not only a successful singer/performer, she's also a successful brand. Mariah & Celine may have slayed harder with their music at some point, but if you take into account all of their brands, Beyonce is definetly bigger by miles.

Mariah and Celine were hardly brands. They were strictly music. Mariah didn't get into the typical perfume/clothing line gimmick until recently.
Beyonce is the biggest brand since J. Lo. I think J. Lo doesnt get enough credit for breaking down that door of making branding the new thing in the 00s. Now it's almost a rite of passage for a popstar to get a clothing or perfume line.
