I really dont think the MUSIC is as bad as people say, but the fashion and performances etc. are just god awful. Does anyone even care about her era?

Remember when she used to actually try to be iconic and memorable... lol. Not happening this era. Her "I dont need the 'attention' to sell records" idea has blown up in her face.

I just have tuned out of her interviews etc., so maybe thats why DWUW is still amazing to me. Not defending the era by any means though.
EDIT: + Id disagree that DWUW doesnt have an underlying message lyrically

Team is definitely the best single by a female artist this year. The more you hear it on the radio the better it gets. Embarrassing for others that it was a teen who did it.

BTW was a messy album but had about 5-6 tracks that were truly amazing so most people forgave the bad tracks.

The song would be boring/pointless/generic if it was just another "let's ****" anthem. Having the dual meaning is what makes it a good Gaga song and makes the "Do What U Want" lyric clever.
