Because BTW (the song) was a disappointment at first also. People were expecting something bigger and better than Bad Romance with the way she hyped it up. And then she was getting dragged because of the Express Yourself fiasco. The lashings were justified.
My point was that Gaga fans have ALWAYS been over-critical. They don't know what it's like to have 'normal' levels of success because of the sales of TF (album) and JD/PF/BR (singles).
We are the most negative fanbase around, which is why so many of us dislike each other...
I disagree. The album, while not as coherent and fluent as previous releases, is very strong musically.
I think Applause, DWUW, GUY, Gypsy, Sexxx Dreams, and Dope are incredibly strong musically, but the rest range from below average to terrible. It is a very polarizing album.

I agree with that, we are perhaps too critical. But it's because we know what Gaga is capable of. Let's just see how the DWUW video turns out
