I'm going to ask this the nicest possible way, do you have any friends (or anybody you have social contact with)? If so, do you just diss them outright when you disagree with what they say?
You can definitely appreciate all the old stuff without looking down on others for what they like.
All of my 6 close friends are like me. Except they don't even listen to mainstream pop. They always joke around when I talk about Gaga or Madonna. Anyway, we always make fun of the current music scene (even the indie scene) and how **** mainstream pop artists are. We all like listening to older music etc.
No one with alleged superior taste would ever listen to Katy Perry let alone Britney Spears.

Nope, Chvrches are really bad. I don't care if Pitchfork or other critics like them. They're a bad Chromatics rip off and Chromatics are a New Order rip off. I'm sorry, I'm just really critical and selective.
