Beyonce's new album is weird in a way. It isnt strong on tune, melody, or hook which is all the convention behind popstars/pop music. She must have really meant it when she said she's uninterested in making hits for the radio or quick lil singles.
I don't feel like the approach for this album is all that different from her other ones. The lack of strong melodies and hooks in her discography is why she has so few hit singles. The main improvement is that she is not screaming and grunting on every track, her voice is actually listenable most of the time. That's what makes it weird to me.
I love the videos for Beyonce. They're simple and each seems to send only 1 message, and all of the scenes are capturing. They're not all over the place and send a powerful message and aura.
The Katy stans are all in an upROAR (pun fully intended) tonight. Bad performance (what else is new?) and Beyonce stealin' her thunder - this WAS supposed to be Katy's year, coming off an amazing era. Oh well.
