Yeah, help requests all get seen, but oftentimes a mod says in the help request thread, "No, the WP was deserved and I'm not reversing it.", we all agree, and the request is closed.
I do feel that we should try to reply more to the help requests so that members don't feel ignored.
And in egregious cases (see Vato), the overwhelming majority may disagree with the WP and it gets reversed.
For those who don't know, we ourselves are audited every few months by the admins. Admins look at our activity, etc and decide whether to keep us on, demote or fire us. So we are held to a degree of liability for what we post.
Not the point. Mods in general are allowed to do and say whatever they want with no repercussions.
Not true. Vato was demoted this year and other moderators have been privately reprimanded and threatened with punishment and/or demotion. You just don't see this.
We audit ourselves and we are able to check each other within reason; Athens is there as well.
And one shady post doesn't mean I am a terrible moderator.
The moderating is pretty bad... sorry. Like I got the entirety of ATRL into a troll thread to promote Avril Lavigne's new album and I only got 2 warning points. There are also many ways to get around getting a warning point and in some threads moderation is almost nonexistent. Like I've said some pretty horrible things to people on here without getting a warning point.
Shane....he was young and immature at the time. He simply did not know how to cope with the power he had as a moderator. He was like 15 or 16 years old at the time.

So you're mad at mods for you not getting enough punishment, and not giving WP's to post that weren't reported as if they were to magically be seen?
Pleaseeee post, tell, copy/paste, screenshot the story.
Well, I wasn't around clearly as this was like in '07 or something, but from what I hear, a brand new moderator - apparently young, just like me - decided to merge everything into one big amalgamated thread of some sort and nearly broke the site to an extent, and then our at-the-time-admin TC floated down from the heavens to save the day and permabanned the mod in question.

I'm a moderator on a website with over 900,000 members and I can find my way through most threads to give out warning points. Also, at the website I'm on, there are only like 4 active mods.

You can't just expect mods to go through every single thread and make sure nobody is doing nothing bad.

He misused his abilities to merge, move, and delete threads/posts. There was a lot of cleanup that TC and staff had to go back and fix because of Shane. Most chalked it up to his youth for the way he handled his position and behavior at the time.
