I see Pretty Hurts a bigger hit than XO. Both because of the video and the song. People dig these stuff guys, even Roar slayed when it's clearly more generic but it was uplifting and motivational. GP is here for those kind of songs.
Plus it's a better choice of a lead single because it's a strong, clear message rather than XO.
Pretty Hurts would pretty hurt if they won't release that sheet as a single. I mean, the video is the human race's life.
I'm not digging XO that much right now. Blow can stand a better chance.
It's a nice touch how she added a sample of JAY Z's 'Crown' during the ***Flawless intro. And I also thought it was cute how JAY had a song called Heaven on Magna Carta, and how there's Heaven on BEYONCÉ too.
Btw, what is the reason for the *** in ***Flawless?
I'm pretty sure the *** are the 3 stars she got on Star Search and they lost she's poking fun at that I guess, 3 star flawless idk
PERFECT Urban single. Drunk In Love is gonna be huge on Hip-Hop radio. But Blow... I love Blow, but that wouldn't have been my first choice as single. But who knows, it could be a smash. I wonder how the radio edit of DIL will sound.
Urban single can be almost anything, it's not like they strictly choose urban music and the most of the album can fit on there so I'm not too worried on that.
Blow won't do good on pop, unless people dig the old sound since pop sometimes has that thing where they just completely step away from the genre and everyone goes crazy about it. See : Royals.
okay i think this is a good album but i don't want to own it. it was good to listen to once, and i won't be surprised if it gets nominated for AOTY next year, but nah i don't need this in my collection
1st Urban single: Drunk In Love
1st Pop single: Pretty Hurts
2nd Urban single: Blow
2nd Pop single: XO
I mean, right? To me, Blow seems like an even sexier Dance For You. Blow doesn't sound like a Pop smash to me. To me, Blow sounds like it would do better on R&B radio
