I love Lou, but that was one dumb ass article. He clearly didn't knew about the whole industral-hop movement that was going on way before Yeezus and saw his album as a huge game challenging project. Perhaps in the mainstream, but not in the current music scene overall.
Industrial hip hop has been around for decades and what he was praising Yeezus for has little to do with the idea of industrial hip hop being innovative. He says he's never heard anything like it, but that's because he's focused on how gracefully it manages to be both disorienting and beautifully melodic and full of hooks.
