If you say this was a stunt, then you are clearly delusional. Gaga's ArtRave was a stunt. Releasing an album with no hype is hardly a stunt. I think you might want to browse a dictionary for the word you're looking for.

I was listening to old Summer 2010 interviews of hers and she was hyping teh album to the HIGHEST of heavens. So compared her pre ARTPOP interviews to what she used to be she actually has cut down a lot
I don't particularly care whether ACT II happens or not, but I'm almost positive that a new album will drop next year in some capacity and keeping it ARTPOP will make things a lot easier for the tour.
Plus, whilst it'll run the risk of being dragged down by ACT I...it also doesn't need to stand entirely on it's own two feet like a completely new project would. She should use this new material as damage control and save the "wow" revamp for the following album.
A Beyoncé-type of release would not have worked for Artpop anyway imo. She could've done it after TFM, but not now. The traditional lead single + album was fine.
I somewhat agree with y'all with the hype tho, when she announced Applause was the lead single, that was the perfect time to announce the album title as well, instead of way way before the album was done (like 2 years). Same with BTW. And she's doing it again by already talking about Act 2.

Nobody releases an album without hype, thereby making it a HUGE STUNT. Are you blind? Deaf? Dumb? Releasing the album out of the blue was a brilliant strategy. It's just a shame the album itself is so dire.
